CUCC Meets List 1999-2000

The trips listed here are those for which we have permits. Other trips (not needing permits) will take place and those listed will not happen if the weather is unsuitable.

12th Oct.: And every Tuesday
Pub meet from 9.15 pm in The Castle on Castle Hill (meet upstairs - this is not immediately obvious, but it is there, so keep looking :-)
: Squash
7.30pm, Pembroke, Old Lodge Cellars
14th Oct: And every Thursday during term at 1:15 prompt
Club lunch (mountains of food for only £1.50), in R4, Burrell's Field, Trinity College.
Sat 16th and Sun 17th Oct: Two (identical) single day introductory meets
to Mendip (south of Bath). Likely to be meeting Senate House 8.45 am (or Tackle Store, or Churchill College)
29th/31st Oct: Yorks I
Ingleton Caravans. Saturday: Wretched Rabbit in Easegill; Sunday: Heron Pot, maybe Kingsdale Master Cave. This meet coincides with a weekend planned to celebrate CUCC's 50th anniversary - see the ex-Cambridge Speleologists' meets list.
13th/14th Nov: Peak ILeave Cambridge after lunch Saturday
Accomodation to be arranged. Possibly a Saturday evening trip, probably P-8 and/or Peak Cavern on Sunday.
25/28th Nov: SWales I
Westminster Speleological Group, near Penderyn. Trips: inevitably Ogof Ffynnon Ddu, one of Britain's longest caves, with all kinds of caving (though no big pitches:); possibly Pant Mawr Pot, a 15m entrance shaft leading to a fine decorated streamway.
3rd/7th Dec (probably): Yorks II
Bull Pot Farm (Red Rose CPC). Various possible trips, including Lancaster Hole, Bar Pot, Roaring Hole, Magnetometer Pot, Tatham Wife Hole and a Swinsto through-trip. Some of the trips will be an introduction to Single Rope Techniques.
New Year (from around Dec. 28th)
probably Bull Pot Farm. Lots of quality caving on this meet, with probably a short wet trip on New Year's Day :-) Penyghent Pot is traditional on New Year's Eve, if the weather allows. Other trips may include Juniper Gulf, Gaping Gill Dihedral route, other GG entrances, Alum Pot, Little Hull Pot, Lost Johns', Notts Pot.
Lent term
meets will continue, including Yorkshire and Mendip, and possibly South Wales and the Peak District.
.. and after Easter
meets near the start of term, culminating in the Pre-Tripos meet, last opportunity to get underground before exams.
June/July: Alternative Dinner and Post-Tripos meet
(usually Yorkshire)
Summer - c 5 weeks
Austria Expedition, dates will be fixed sometime in the New Year.
